AURORA OVER GREAT SLAVE LAKE. Thanks to its perfect positioning under the Auroral Oval and an abundance of crispy, clear skies, the Northern Lights dance across the Northwest Territories 240 nights a year. The winter Aurora season begins in earnest in November and lasts until April when the midnight sun starts to overtake the night sky.
